Miley Cyrus to Replace Iconic Statue of Dolly Parton at Sevier County Courthouse in Tenn.
SEVIERVILLE, TN. April 1,2013 – The iconic statue of Dolly Parton located at the Sevier County Courthouse will be replaced by a statue of Dolly’s god-daughter Miley Cyrus. A spokesman for Sevierville Statues Committee told new.visitmysmokies.com that “this is just the change that’s needed to attract the next generation of Smoky Mountain Visitors.”
Parton was bestowed the role of Miley’s “honorary” godmother due to her close friendship with Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus, who opened shows for her back in 1992.
The statue will be replaced in late April, when the starlet moves from Nashville Tenn, to The Great Smoky Mountains, where she will open the Best of Both Worlds Theater on the Pigeon Forge Parkway.
Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus and is the daughter of Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and played the role of Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel series of the same name. The Dolly Parton statue was unveiled by Dolly herself in 1987.
There will be no ribbon-cutting ceremony, as this is an April Fool’s joke. Of course, Sevier county would never do this, we love our hometown girl Dolly! Our appreciation for Dolly can be seen throughout Sevierville and Sevier County, from Dolly Parton Parkway to the Leconte Womens Medical Centers, Dolly’s Imagination Library and all the wonderful attributes she has placed around our beautiful towns of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville Tenn.
