The biggest upgrade to the Hatfield and McCoy theater will be the addition of an Olympic sized swimming pool! This 120,000 gallon pool will be 22 feet deep and will take up the whole stage. The show will utilize state of the art technology to make the stage either completely wet or completely dry. Hydraulic platforms will push the water out of the way, allowing for a quick transition between the wet and dry portions of the show. The stage floor will be able to move up and down, and it will even be capable of stopping at different levels.

When asked what inspired the installation of the pool, David Fee, the president of Hatfield and McCoy’s parent company, said, “After countless times of seeing water shows such as ‘O’ by Cirque du Soleil and Le Reve in Las Vegas, I wanted to bring our version of water technology to Pigeon Forge.”

High Diving Stunts

To make the most of their brand new pool, the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge TN is hiring some talented new performers. High divers will delight audiences with exciting stunts and exhilarating plunges into the water. According to Fee, diving is a “highly specialized skill”, so the new cast members will come from all over the United States.

As mentioned above, new animal performers will also be joining the Hatfield and McCoy cast. In his interview with The Mountain Press, David Fee indicated that water skiing squirrels could be a possibility. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

Although the squirrels aren’t a sure thing, dogs will definitely be part of the new show. The dog trainer from the former Lumberjack Feud Dinner Theater (now Dolly Parton’s Lumberjack Adventure) will be teaching a group of pooches to dive into the pool from 10 or 15 feet in the air. Fee explained that “there will be funny dogs; it’s not championship or sports diving.”
