New Summer Tubing at Ober Gatlinburg
Located next to the Ski Mountain Coaster, this new attraction at Ober Gatlinburg offers visitors an exciting summertime ride with scenic views. The Magic Carpet will carry riders and their tubes to the top of the tubing hill, where they’ll cruise back down on one of the four 250-foot lanes. The lanes are made of synthetic materials that allow riders to feel the sensation of being on layers of snow. Ober Gatlinburg said the tracks can easily be converted back to winter mode when it’s time for snow tubing again!

Aerial Tramway: While you can drive up to Ober Gatlinburg during the summer, we recommend arriving in style on the Aerial Tramway! This ride departs from downtown Gatlinburg at takes you 11,000 feet above Gatlinburg for an aerial experience unlike any you’ve had before. The Aerial Tramway takes you directly to the Amusement Park and Ski Area!
Scenic Chairlift: If you want to see spectacular views of the Great Smoky Mountains, you definitely don’t want to miss the chance to ride the Scenic Chairlift! This is one of the most peaceful rides in the park and is the longest chairlift of its kind in the United States. It’ll take you to the peak of Mount Harrison, where you can see as far as Douglas Lake and enjoy a breathtaking view of Mount LeConte.
Wildlife Encounter: If you’re hoping to see some Smoky Mountain wildlife on your vacation, the Wildlife Encounter at Ober Gatlinburg is the one place that guarantees you will! The Wildlife Encounter is home to a black bear family, bobcats, birds and more. You can see river otters playing at the underwater viewing area, or visit the Nocturnal House that includes a variety of species from raccoons to snakes.
Water Rides: Cool off from the summer heat on the water rides at Ober Gatlinburg! The Blue Cyclone is the largest slide in the park, with lots of turns inside a blackout tunnel, and a splash pool at the bottom. Shoot the Chute offers a thrill with a steep drop-off as you go flying down the chute and into the splash pool at the bottom. The Lightnin’ Water Ride is an open-air water slide with various speed changes because of the built-in dips in the design. No swimsuits are required for any of the water rides.
Mountain Coaster: The Ski Mountain Coaster lets you experience the thrill of a roller coaster while being surrounded by gorgeous views. Enjoy a scenic ride to the top of the mountain, where you’re put in charge of your own speed through 2,750 feet of turns, dips, and corkscrews. You can choose to take a leisurely ride down the track, or reach speeds up to 25 miles per hour!
Alpine Slide: The Alpine Slide has always been a big hit at Ober Gatlinburg. When you visit this summer, hop on the sled-like carts and control your own speed as you wind down the 1,800 parallel tracks. You can choose to race a friend on the parallel track or take a slow ride down as you admire the unique views of the Ober Slopes and Smoky Mountains.
Ice Skating & Bumper Cars: Still want to experience some winter fun during the summer? Ober offers ice skating and ice bumper cars all year long. At their indoor ice rink, visitors can choose to go ice skating or hit the ice in a unique way in a bumper car! The ice bumper cars glide across the ice as you smash into other cars or just spin around on the ice. It’s a fun activity for the whole family.
