Great American Summer at Dollywood
The summer of 2013 promises to be an exciting one in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee as Dollywood celebrates The Great American Summer from June 22 through August 4. Extended hours at the park, nightly fireworks displays and a lot of activities for family members of all ages are just a few of the exciting events in Pigeon Forge at Dollywood this summer.
All that fun in the park is bound to create an appetite in you and your family. Fortunately, Dollywood is chock full of eateries that cater to every taste. Granny’s All-You-Care-to-Eat Buffet and the Backstage Restaurant provide unlimited goodies for those who are ravenous and prefer unlimited trips to the buffet. Corn dogs, ham and beans, fried chicken, burgers, pizza, barbecue, funnel cakes and ice cream are also offered at locations scattered throughout the park. You can quench your thirst with fresh-squeezed and sweetened lemonade at Valley Lemonade.
Your Great American Summer experience will enable you and your group to enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Great Smoky Mountains as well. No matter where you stay, if it’s in Pigeon Forge, you’ll be nestled in the mountains and surrounded by nature unlike what you’ll find anywhere else. Between adventures you can breathe in the fresh, clean air and behold beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
The summer of 2013 is also host to a brand new musical event, the Great American Country Show, being featured from May 10 through October 26. Presented in Dolly Parton’s Celebrity Theatre, the 40-minute show features a variety of live country music with top-notch performers.
In addition to the new musical show and colorful fireworks displays, Dollywood offers tons of fun in the form of rides suitable for every member of the family. The Wild Eagle wing coaster is perfect for adventurous souls, while the Amazing Flying Elephants provide safe and age-appropriate excitement for little ones.
While Dollywood is an exciting experience all year round, The Great American Summer promises to be a special time when you’ll particularly want to visit Pigeon Forge. With the patriotic events scheduled to take place, you’ll enjoy experiencing country heritage and be able take pride in your country at the same time.
When the weather’s sizzling hot, the whole family can take a break and cool off at Dolly’s Splash Country Water Adventure Park. Ride the Riverrush water coaster for a fast-paced thrill or laze along at a slower pace while you float along on the Downbound Float Trip.
