Dolly Parton Podcast Premieres This Fall: Dolly Parton’s America
Calling all Dolly Parton fans! Our Smoky Mountain hometown hero is the center of a new podcast! Premiering Tuesday, Oct. 15, “Dolly Parton’s America” will be a 9-part series that tackles a range of topics. We’ve got all the details on the new Dolly Parton podcast and more things you can expect from the country music legend in the coming months.
Dolly Parton’s America
What is Dolly Parton’s America? That’s the question that former Nashville resident Jad Abumrad is trying to answer in his new 9-part series. Abumrad co-hosts the public radio series Radiolab with Robert Krulwich and wants to dig deeper into the “mystery” of Dolly Parton. The podcast features Dolly Parton herself and takes listeners on a journey through Parton’s life and the impact she’s had on the country. “Dolly Parton’s America” was created from more than 12 hours of interviews that address everything from Parton’s life, to music, to faith, to politics. And, of course, there will be mention of our beautiful Smoky Mountains!
In addition to Abumrad and Parton, the podcast will have more than 50 special guests who add to Dolly Parton’s story. Here are a few of the guests you can expect to hear on the podcast:
- Charlie Hurst, manager of the grocery store where Dolly first performed
- Jane Fonda, “9 to 5” co-star and longtime friend
- Patricia Resnik, screenwriter of “9 to 5”
These are just a few of the many guests contributing to Dolly’s story in her podcast. What’s unique about this podcast is that it doesn’t just tell Dolly Parton’s biography. It dives deep into questions of feminism, faith, immigration, workers’ rights, and the American dream, and where Parton stands on all of those topics. You’ll be able to learn more about Dolly than ever before!

Christmas at Dollywood – If you love Hallmark Christmas movies, you can’t miss tuning in on December 8 to watch “Christmas at Dollywood”!
