Dolly spoke to the press about Pirates Voyage, their decision to bring it to the area, and how The Island was the perfect spot to have a pirate-themed show. Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show Now Open
When you visit Pigeon Forge, you’ll be able to experience the brand new Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show! With pirate battles, live animals, custom-designed costumes, and more, this $28 million show is definitely one you don’t want to miss. Arrive 50 minutes before the show for the chance to explore Pirates Village, where your kids (and you too!) can dress up like pirates and mermaids and enjoy pirate-themed beverages and snacks. Everyone was hard at work designing, creating, and bringing the attraction to life, so make sure you plan your trip to see this show!
About Dolly Parton’s Pirate-Themed Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge
Dolly Parton announced on Oct. 4, 2018 that she was bringing her Pirates Voyage dinner attraction to Pigeon Forge. The show has had a lot of success in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so Parton wanted to introduce it to the Smoky Mountains as well. The attraction is located adjacent to The Island in Pigeon Forge and includes a 30,000 square-foot arena that seats nearly 700 guests. During the show, guests will get to see the Crimson and Sapphire pirates battle on deck, in the water, and in the sky above their full-sized pirate ships in a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon. The two pirate ships are 28 feet tall and sit in a 15-foot-deep lagoon that’s filled with 300,000 gallons of water. Visitors can expect to enjoy acrobatic competitions, special effects, live animals, and original music by Parton and Mark Brymer. As for dinner, you know Dolly Parton’s dinner shows never disappoint. Enjoy a four-course pirate feast at the show! The menu will include new items like the Walk the Plank Peach Turnover, as well as all your favorites like creamy vegetable soup and fried chicken.
Preparing for the Opening of Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show
Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show has its soft opening on May 24, when its first show is set to take place. On June 7, the dinner show attraction in Pigeon Forge will hold a grand opening, which Dolly Parton herself will be a part of! The cast has been hard at work preparing for the show and includes aerialists, platform and springboard divers, performers who work with fire, tumblers, and more. All are certified divers! The show will also feature sea lions and sea birds who are a part of the educational enclosure at the front of the dinner show attraction.
Construction for the Pirates Voyage theater in Pigeon Forge began in January and was completed in May. The 20-member cast began show rehearsals and training for the acrobatic and diving skills that are used by the pirates and mermaids in the show months before the first show was scheduled to take place! The construction project is a $9 million project, in addition to the initial investment in the property for a total of $28 million. Dollywood Expansion – The 2019 Dollywood expansion, Wildwood Grove, is the largest expansion the park has seen!
