Rocky Top Hiking Trail to Thunderhead Mountain located in the Cades Cove Area off of the campground area the trail is 13.9 miles long round trip with an elevation gain of 3665' with a strenuous difficulty rating for hiking abilities and fitness level required. The trail leading to Tennessee's infamous Rocky Top is lined with flowering plants and trees. Rocky top is the first of three summits making up Thunderhead Mountain and offers spectacular views across the Great Smoky Mountains that is hard for others to compare with to once you've experienced this view.
