Dolly Parades Around Town
Everybody loves a parade, right? The pageantry, the
notable guests, and the music – it all comes together in a display unlike any
other. And the best part is that you don’t have to move; just sit in your chair
and watch it all pass by.
This year, the 27th Annual Dolly Homecoming Parade takes place on Friday, May 11. Starting at 6 p.m. between traffic lights #6 and #7 in Pigeon Forge, this family-friendly event heads north on the Parkway and ends at the Pigeon River Crossings (formerly Belz Factory Outlet Mall). More than 50,000 people watch this spring kick-off each year, so you’ll probably don’t want to wait until 6 to find a good viewing spot.
Put on by the city,
it’s a way to honor and thank Dolly Parton and Dollywood for their contributions
to the community. Each year, there are colorful floats, awesome marching bands,
local celebrities, antique vehicles, and most importantly, Dolly herself as
grand marshal. This year, you’ll see a submarine, a NASCAR racecar and a “9 to
5” movie-themed float. It’s safe to say there’s no other parade like this one.
What better way to kick
off the spring season than the Dolly Parade in Pigeon Forge! Get there early so
you can be sure to see this awesome event.
